Un Voyage a York de Grande Noveau, 2006

CLOCKWISE
Swedish Midsummer Revels, Battery Park: not what I anticipated a maypole looking like under these circumstances--expected something far twirlier. Courage failed me to take picture of young blond Beatles-esque giant with architectural glasses, of a prototype ineffably European to me. No evidence of famous germanic sort of engineering/design in revels folk-dancing, unexpectedly chaotic. Saw first and only firefly of season. Hudson churned greenly, looking bleak. New York Snack: Chocolate cake and seltzer water. Disappointed cake wasn't an all-chocolate affair, I only ate the frosting, leading my waiter, who looked like a math genius (rumpled greying hair, unplaceable accent, kindly but vague smile, clever hands, bad handwriting), to not charge me for it. I defrosted the cake/sipped while watching a movie scene being filmed on the corner, some simulated hostage situation, and wrote. Took me over an entire page to describe the smell in the diner, some combination, I eventually decided, of scorched egg/grilled mop/burnt coffee/despair that the upper west side apartment bound who get out once a day to eat a bowl of soup there leave behind. Natural History Museum: I visted twice. Twice! Hadn't misremembered--there is no giant guinea pig skeleton. Phooey. Was moderately wretched having missed butterfuly exhibit by one hour. Did see Darwin exhibit. So, hey listen, you know that expression on his face, as an old man? The penetrating, somber eyes above all that white beard? That's the look of someone who tells people things they don't want to hear. G Necklace: lovely Ms. Sharon was kind enough to pass along this piece of chic-dom to me after taking me to a sample sale where I bought this Daryl K Dress. Gosh, my head is bigger than I remembered.

Any suggestions on how to make this look more Edwardian?
